25 grade12 students and leaders are traveling to Tasbapauni, a remote village, in Nicaragua. We leave March 20th and arrive back home March 31st.
This community has no running water, electricity or roads and will be a challenge for most of our group. We plan to immerse ourselves into the culture to understand and provide assistance where needed. A Doctor is planning to attend with us to provide daily clinics for the community members.
One of our projects includes continuing to build a community centre started last year with the laying of the foundation. Overall, we plan to spend our time helping out in anyway we can.
While in Nicaragua we plan to attend a youth event in Bluefields, a city a couple hours away.
We value your prayers and invite you to visit the website for stories and pictures of our trip upon arriving home. Thank you to Samaritan’s Purse. We are partnered with them and they have planned all the details of the trip for us.
This year the Grade 10 students are going to Vicente Guerro, Mexico for their MTO trip. Vicente Guerro is approximately 2 hours south of Ensenada on the Baja coast.
Our goals while there are to build 2-3 small homes for families in need and to help complete the building of one local church.
Outside of building physical buildings, it is our goal that the students will also build life changing relationships while interacting with the community through Sports Ministries, VBS, food and clothing distribution and community clean-up projects.
MTO Vancouver ’08 consists of 50 grade eight students and leaders. If you have ever had the chance to visit Vancouver you are aware of its spectacular beauty, but behind the beauty lay many challenges. The child poverty rate is nearly 24% and there are more than 1,200 homeless individuals living on the streets. Illicit drug use is higher in British Columbia than all other provinces. Among Vancouver youth, nearly 70% have tried marijuana and one out of four have tried cocaine. MTO Vancouver have the incredible privilege to impact Vancouver’s neediest residents.
Our goal as a team is to provide support to already existing social service organizations. CSC students and leadersl work alongside numerous social service organizations to support children’s ministries, the elderly and the homeless. Our team will strive to serve with a willing and flexible spirit.

Operation Christmas Child - Samaritan's Purse Youth Teams
In recent years, students from Centre Street Church have joined the Samaritan’s Purse Youth Teams serving in such countries as Cambodia, El Salvador, Belize and Argentina. These opportunities allow our students to move beyond their physical, spiritual and emotional boundaries and explore, embrace and connect with people around the world. It is an adventure that challenges them, and exposes them to situations where they can truly see the hand of God working through them to meet the needs of others.
